Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I choose a private support coordinator?

Privatized support coordination has several benefits.
• Extremely low turnover means you will receive consistent and dependable services as well as the opportunity to develop a real relationship with your support coordinator.
• All employees are provided with company cell phones making them more accessible.
• Our smaller size allows us to be picky about whom we hire guaranteeing you the most experienced and reputable coordinators.
• Detachment from the state means we are free to advocate without the limitations of government politics.

If I want to transfer my case to Support Coordination Services of Utah, what do I need to do?

Just give us a call at 801.305.3025. Once you choose Support Coordination Services of Utah we will notify the Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) of your request.  At that time you should receive a letter or phone call from the state asking you to confirm this decision.  Once you provide confirmation your case will be transferred on the first day of the following month.

Who do you hire as support coordinators?

We believe in hiring the best.  Our support coordinators have a history of quality training and experience.  We seek employees with strong worth ethic and a heart for people with disabilities. Please visit our about us page to learn more about each individual coordinator.

Is privatized support coordination still under the umbrella of DSPD?

Support Coordination Services of Utah are required to report to DSPD monthly.  Privatized support coordination is also regulated through audits. There is no difference in the budget or services provided. The only difference is that your support coordinator is not employed by the state.

Can I go back to a State support coordinator if I am unhappy with my private support coordinator?

Yes. While we believe you will be fully satisfied with your private support coordinator, if you are unhappy with the services you can request another one of our coordinators or be reassigned a support coordinator from the state.

What happens to our funding if we decide to have our case transferred to you?

When a case is transferred to us, your funding stays the same. There is no difference in the budget or services provided. The only difference is that your support coordinator is not employed by the state.
