Erika Braun, Co-owner, MBA
Erika is a fun loving person. She looks
forward to winter arriving as she enjoys skiing. Erika enjoys being in
the outdoors, participating in sports, and shopping. Erika has a
Bachelors degree in Sociology and Qualified Mental Retardation
Professional certification. Erika has over ten years experience in the
social work field. Erika worked for The Work Activity Center as a
Program Coordinator for five years and has been with the Division for
Services for People with Disabilities for over two years. Erika also
has several years volunteer experience with several agencies serving
people with disabilities in Southern California. Currently, she is
working on her Masters Degree in Business Administration with a
graduation date of January 2009.
Amber Foster, Co-owner
Amber Foster is an outgoing person with a great love for life. She enjoys serving others, as well as spending time with her family. Amber’s great loves include traveling, hiking, river rafting, boating/water skiing, running/training for races, and playing the piano. She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology, a Social Service Work license, and Qualified Mental Retardation Professional certification. Amber has spent seven years in the social work field, six years with Child and Family Services and over one year with Division for Services for People with Disabilities. As part of DCFS, Amber was the lead worker on her team, worked on the drug court team, and was involved with the House of Hope Advisory Board. Amber has five years experience working with people with disabilities. Amber worked in a group home for TKJ, as well as provided services in apartment settings. She worked in the classroom at the Castle Valley Center, a school for children with disabilities, and has worked for DSPD.
Travis Colmen, Executive Director
Travis comes to SCSU with nearly 20 years experience working with people with disabilities as a Manager with a provider, Granite School District, and DSPD. Travis has worked in many capacities for The Division of Services for People with Disabilities including, Support Coordinator, Contract Specialist, Supervisor, Disabilities Ombudsman and Quality Manager. Travis has also worked with the Special Olympics and People First on a volunteer basis. Travis has 2 Bachelors Degree’s from the University of Utah and is currently working on his Master’s Degree. Travis enjoys spending time with his wife and kids and will typically be found on the golf course in his spare time.
Michelle Hiles, Support Coordinator
Michelle has much love and compassion for the individuals and the families that she serves. She comes to Support Coordination Services of Utah with many years experience in working with people with disabilities. Michelle has a brother with severe disabilities; she has witnessed and understands what a family goes through as they raise a child with disabilities. While growing up, Michelle served as a volunteer in anything that her brother was apart of. Michelle always knew when she ‘grew up’; she wanted to work with people with disabilities.
Michelle received her Bachelor Degree from Utah Valley University, formerly Utah Valley State College in Integrated Studies with an emphasis in Psychology and Business. While in school, Michelle worked for Topham’s Tiny Tots (ICFMR) and Key Residential Services. While working for Key Residential Services, Michelle served as the House Manager for two group homes. Michelle worked for DSPD for two years where she served on the Rate and Service Review Committee (one-time funds for individuals receiving DSPD services), People First, and Human Rights Committee for Danville Services. Michelle is also a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP).
Michelle enjoys spending her spare time with her family. She recently had twins and loves being a mom. Cooper and Madison keep her quite busy. Michelle also enjoys snowmobiling, waterskiing, watching movies, and taking long naps.
Daniel Fischer, Support Coordinator
Daniel Fischer has a Bachelors degree in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, his Social Service Work license and Qualified Mental Retardation Professional certification. Daniel has over nine years in the social work field. He worked at a behavioral group home as an assistant manager with Columbus Community Center for seven years and has been with the Division of Services for People with Disabilities for over two years. Daniel has also worked as a behavioral aide for two years with Granite School District.
Amie Smith, Support Coordinator
Amie attended Westminster College and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and a Minor in French. Amie has worked in the health care field as a Certified Nurse Assistant for over seven years. Amie has the ability to develop great relationships with people, and enjoys helping them. Amie has worked at Woodland Park Care Center and Brighton Gardens. She also spent four years working at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. Amie worked at DSPD before transferring over to Support Coordination Services of Utah. Amie is a QMRP.
Amie spends most of her time with family. Amie loves to spend time with her wonderful husband, son, and two dogs. Amie also likes to run, hike, bike, camp, read, and skate. Amie spends most of her free time raising money for charities by playing on a roller derby team.
Bethany Lawrence, Support Coordinator, MSW
Bethany has always held an interest in Human Services. She began as a young adult serving as a 911 emergency dispatcher where for seven years she dispatched and coordinated various training and other facets of emergency dispatching.
Having a desire to serve in a greater capacity, Beth received her Bachelors Degree in the Science of Human Services from the University of Phoenix and continued on to achieve her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. During her matriculation, she had the privilege of volunteering with the University of Utah Teen Mother and Child Program, drug and alcohol rehabilitation therapy, emergency room crisis worker at the University of Utah Hospital, and working with pre-schoolers at the Children’s Center, giving her a broad range of client experience.
During her schooling, she was employed as a support service technician for the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) in Salt Lake City, Utah. After receiving her Bachelors Degree she moved into the position of Case Worker, working towards permanency with children in foster care. Later, she was asked to fill the position of Support Coordinator for DSPD working with a wide range of clients, including children and adolescents receiving services from both DCFS and DSPD. Bethany is well known for using unique methods to relate to her clients.
In her free time, Bethany enjoys working on her home, making jewelry, antiquing, reading, playing with her nieces and nephews, and mentoring siblings entering her career field.
Jennifer Doty Cornett, Support Coordinator, MSW
Jennifer joins our team after working for DSPD for five years where she served on several human rights committees, an ethics committee, family support groups, and is currently a member of the adolescent female advocacy network. Jennifer has a Bachelors degree in behavioral science and recently graduated with a Masters degree in Social Work. Jennifer believes in having a balance between working hard and still enjoying her personal life. While on the job she shows her love for her work and her clients by being a fierce advocate for their rights. In her personal life she is fun-loving and laid back and prefers to spend her time with her husband, their two dogs, and families, listening to music, watching movies, cooking, and playing an occasional game of Rock Band.
Andrea Sawatzki, Support Coordinator
Andrea attended Cottey College, a two-year liberal arts college for women, before graduating from the University of Utah with a Bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies. After spending a summer in Tennessee, working at a residential camp for people with disabilities, Andrea knew that this field is where she belonged. Andrea has worked for several providers including Turn Community Services and Rise Inc. where she was a Professional Parent Coordinator. She is a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional, and has worked as a Support Coordinator for four and a half years.
Andrea loves spending time with her family, and has two little girls. She enjoys watching her oldest do gymnastics, and is always trying to convince both girls to stop growing up so quickly. In her spare time Andrea enjoys reading, napping and rare getaways with her husband.
Amanda Anderson, Support Coordinator
Amanda joins this team after five years with DSPD as a support coordinator, QMRP. Amanda also worked for a provider for three years in a group home and with supported living. Amanda received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Family Human Development. Amanda enjoys working with people with disabilities. The best part of her job is seeing them happy and excited about life.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors in the summer with her husband, family and her dog. She enjoys going camping, jeeping, hiking, boating, and spending time exploring new places. Amanda doesn’t care much for the cold winter but each year her husband tries to convince her that snowmobiling is fun. Snowmobiling has been a new adventure for Amanda and she is still not sure about being out in the cold.
